Pete Alonso Extends Record Strikeout Streak Against Boston Red Sox

Mets' Slugger Reaches 11 Straight Games With a K Against Sox

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has extended his record-breaking strikeout streak against the Boston Red Sox to 11 straight games.

Alonso struck out twice in the Mets' 5-3 loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday night, marking the first time he has struck out multiple times against Boston since 2019.

Alonso's Strikeout Woes Against Red Sox

Alonso has been struggling against the Red Sox throughout his career, batting just .190 with 39 strikeouts in 100 career plate appearances.

In the past two seasons, Alonso has struck out 16 times in 32 at-bats against Boston, including a stretch of nine straight games with at least one strikeout.

The Red Sox have been particularly effective at exploiting Alonso's weakness against changeups, which he has swung and missed 10 times in his last 15 at-bats against the pitch.

Breaking the Streak

Alonso will have a chance to break the streak on Wednesday afternoon when the Mets face the Red Sox in the rubber match of their three-game series.

Despite his struggles against Boston, Alonso has been one of the most productive hitters in baseball this season, leading the National League with 39 home runs.

The 27-year-old is on pace to break the Mets' single-season home run record of 41, set by Darryl Strawberry in 1988.
